Meet Noel P. O'Brien, Esq.


Noel P. O’Brien is an Associate Attorney at Cabanillas & Associates, where he has served since July 2026, having previously worked at Cabanillas & Associates from February 2022 to August 2025. He is admitted to practice in New York (2022), the Southern District of New York (2022), the Eastern District of New York (2025), Connecticut (2023), and the Connecticut Federal District Court (2025).


Mr. O’Brien works in a varied civil litigation practice, handling personal injury cases, Habeas Corpus petitions, real estate and partition actions, contract and commercial disputes, foreclosure defense, landlord-tenant proceedings, trials, and appeals. He has secured judgments in state courts, delivering successful outcomes for the firm’s clients through strategic advocacy, motion practice, and courtroom experience.

In addition to litigation, Mr. O’Brien supports the firm’s immigration and family law departments by handling Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (“SIJ”) cases. SIJ, created by federal statute in 1990, allows immigrant children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned by a parent to pursue lawful permanent residency in the United States. As the son of an Irish immigrant, Mr. O’Brien is dedicated in assisting vulnerable children on their path to citizenship.


Mr. O’Brien earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Mercy University, an L.L.B. from University College Cork School of Law in Cork, Republic of Ireland, completing his legal education with an L.L.M. at Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Pace Univerisity.


Mr. O’Brien is an active member of the legal and local community. He is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Irish American Bar Association of New York.

Outside the courtroom, Mr. O’Brien enjoys golfing, cooking with his wife, and travelling. Mr. O’Brien is fluent in Spanish.
