Meet Christopher C. Garitee
After obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2001, Cabanillas was admitted to the New York State Bar and began his legal career as an associate in the Corporate and Securities Department at the New York office of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe, LLP. In 2003, he was admitted to the California State Bar and joined Buchalter Nemer Fields & Younger, LLP, where he focused on real estate finance transactions, including joint ventures and tax credit syndication. In 2004, he continued his practice as an associate at Cox Castle & Nicholson, LLP, concentrating on real estate development.
In 2006, Cabanillas returned to New York and founded Cabanillas & Associates, P.C., a law firm that currently operates multiple offices throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, including White Plains, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Long Island, Corona, Jamaica, Washington Heights, Riverhead, Peekskill, Newark, Union City, Roselle Park, North Brunswick, Stamford, Bridgeport, and New Haven. Mr. Cabanillas’ practice focuses on immigration law, real estate, litigation, foreclosure defense, and mortgage loan modifications.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Cabanillas maintains a strong commitment to community service and the advancement of educational and social initiatives. He is a dedicated supporter of El Centro Hispano, a nonprofit organization based in White Plains that serves and strengthens the Hispanic community. Since 2015, he has contributed significantly to its programs, including raising more than $75,000 for educational and community initiatives.
Mr. Cabanillas has also served as a donor to 100 Hispanic Women, supporting its scholarship program for Latina students pursuing higher education. The program provides not only financial assistance but also comprehensive support, including career guidance, internships, leadership development, and practical life skills training, thereby fostering long-term academic and professional success.
He has further contributed as a full scholarship donor to Westchester County youth programs, reinforcing his commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities.
Additionally, Mr. Cabanillas serves as both a donor and advisor to the Bridgeport Caribe Youth League (BCYL), an organization dedicated to empowering youth through academic, athletic, and leadership development programs. BCYL provides a structured and supportive environment that promotes personal growth, academic achievement, and character development, helping to shape future leaders within the community.
