Meet Ana Florez


Ana Florez is an Associate Attorney at Cabanillas & Associates, P.C., where she currently focuses her practice on asylum and removal defense. Her legal career has been dedicated to serving individuals and families navigating the U.S. immigration system, with experience spanning humanitarian relief, family-based immigration, and other complex immigration matters.


Ana earned her Juris Doctor from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she participated in the Immigration Justice Clinic and represented a client in removal proceedings before the New York Immigration Court. During law school, she also served as a legal intern with the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), where she assisted Attorney Advisors and Immigration Judges with legal research and written decisions.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ana gained several years of immigration experience in both nonprofit and private practice settings. Throughout her career, she has worked on matters involving asylum, withholding of removal, protection under the Convention Against Torture, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U and T visas, naturalization, and family- and employment-based immigration.


Ana received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Fordham University and studied abroad at the Universidad de Granada in Spain. She is a native Spanish speaker.



Outside of her legal practice, Ana enjoys playing basketball, spending time with her family, and snowboarding.
